Last week Lorena Viladés, one of our Project Coordinators from ANEFA, which leads our project, had the opportunity to join the European Commission delegation at PDAC 2026 in Toronto, the world’s largest convention for mining exploration and development.

From 1–4 March, representatives from the European Commission, HaDEA, Horizon Europe projects, DG GROW, EU ambassadors, and other European institutions came together to showcase Europe’s commitment to innovation in the raw materials sector.

This is the third consecutive year that Rotate, led by ANEFA, and SCIMIN-CRM, also led by ANEFA,  have been present at PDAC, thanks to HaDEA, the European Executive Agency for Digital and Health. Being part of the EU delegation is a great opportunity to:

  • Highlight the importance of R&D and innovation in the raw materials sector
  • Showcase excellent EU-funded projects that are advancing sustainable and responsible mining
  • Demonstrate how the European Commission is supporting the sector through strategic funding and collaboration

Events like PDAC are key to strengthening dialogue between industry, policymakers, and researchers, and to reinforcing Europe’s role in shaping the future of sustainable raw materials supply.
